According to Slashdot.com, the Indian government is going to release a prototype of a $10 laptop on February 3. The computer, developed by the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) and the Indian Institute of Technology (Chennai), will have 2 GB RAM and a wi-fi card, and will run on 2 watts of power. The computer is part of an Indian government project to extend computer infrastructure and connectivity to over 18,000 colleges in the country.
